Today for DSL we decided to try a new style of painting! Chalk painting was so much fun! We had to scrap the chalk into a container of water and we used lots of different bright colours to make cool patterns. Once there was enough chalk we carefully placed a piece of paper on top of the water and tapped it. We had to make sure we didn't sink the piece of paper. When we pulled it out, it was like magic! Check out our cool designs in class!
To support the All Blacks we all wore black on Friday 30th October. We looked super cool and had a fun day. The best part was when the whole school got together to make a 'GO ALL BLACKS' sign out of our bodies. Our letter was 'A' and we think we made a pretty good one!
We had so much fun at the Museum and the Plains Museum. We learnt lots about our community and how we use to do things years ago. It was so much fun using all the old equipment! We were able to write some awesome stories about our day!
We have been out each afternoon practicing for athletics day. We are having so much fun learning how to do high jump, long jump, shot put, tennis ball throw and discus. We have one more week of training before the big day. Athletics day is on Wednesday 28th October starting at 10am.
As I'm sure everyone has now seen, we have got a new member in Room 5. Percy the turtle is a red eared turtle and we are very lucky to have him come join us for the term. He has already provided us with great learning opportunities and we are starting to learn the importance of being responsible for him and personal hygiene. He has already become so much more than just a turtle. He is a friend that the students are excited to see every morning, someone they can read stories too and write about as well as being an attraction for the whole syndicate.
Thomas from Room 8 brought some little chicks to school today and they were kind enough to invite us to see them. They were very cute and so soft and we loved holding them! We thought they were so cool that we came back to class and wrote stories about them. Come and read our awesome stories!
